Binary package hint: libreoffice

Every time I try to save a document in .doc or .docx format, libreoffice
writer closes and all document changes are lost.

I have tried:

1) Removing and purging Libreoffice and re-installing
2) Removing and purging Libreoffice and re-installing from the Libreoffice PPA
3) Deleting and re-creating all Libreoffice files in /var/lib and /var/spool
4) Saving to a hard disk that is a mounted device and saving to the home folder
