[Bug 792767] Re: When typing an application's name in the Dash, there is no visual queue that focus is on the first item in the list
** Attachment added: Screenshot-Dash.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792767/+attachment/2154663/+files/Screenshot-Dash.png ** Description changed: When one is typing into the search bar on the Dash, matches to the search criteria automatically appear bellow, and focus is automatically shifted to the first item in the list. This mean that hitting return immediately after typing will open the first application in the list. This is good. What isn't good is that there is no visual cue telling the user that the first application has focus, rather the impression is given that they must first press the down arrow in order to move focus to the first - application. + application. This is illustrated in the attached screenshot. When I + pressed [RETURN] in that particular situation, the screenshot utility + was opened, despite there being no indication that this would happen. When the down arrow is pressed, the first application becomes highlighted. I think this highlight should be applied as soon as the first search result become available so that the user can immediately see that the first application is currently selected. ** Also affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792767 Title: When typing an application's name in the Dash, there is no visual queue that focus is on the first item in the list -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 792767] Re: When typing an application's name in the Dash, there is no visual queue that focus is on the first item in the list
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This can be seen as more of a feature request, therefore I am marking it as a wishlist in the unity package. Also we see that the search bar itself is doing its job correctly so this can be marked as an opinion on how it should work. If any problems should arise, feel free to change the importance and the statues accordingly or open a new bug. ** Changed in: unity Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792767 Title: When typing an application's name in the Dash, there is no visual queue that focus is on the first item in the list -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
