Just for the record: Starting Brasero from a terminal with brasero -g gives debug output. I'm facing the same issue. The point where the conversion of the MPEG-4 video stops is not always the same. Tried also on another machine with Ubuntu 10.04 and Brasero 2.30.2. Yes, I'm getting the exact same thing. Mine hangs at 24mb every single time. With both .mkv and .mpg2. I am trying to convert it to NTSC, 16:9 and have tried almost every other NTSC combination with no success.
