[Bug 798995] Re: Builtin SDCard Reader in Toshiba Qosmio X505 Doesn't Work

2012-04-05 Thread HalfEmptyHero
I downloaded Precise beta2, and was unable to get the sd card to work on
it. I only tried it on a live usb of it though, so I'm not sure if that
would make a difference or not. However, on my Arch install the sd
reader works with the same "options sdhci debug_quirks=0x40" added
(kernel 3.2.13-1-ARCH). If you still want me to run apport-collect from
the livecd I will, but I don't have a spare partition at the moment to
test it on an actual install.

[Bug 798995] Re: Builtin SDCard Reader in Toshiba Qosmio X505 Doesn't Work

2012-04-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
HalfEmptyHero, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
None of the previous solutions has helped me on DELL Vostro 1710. A downgrade
to kernel: '2 .6.38-12 x86_64' solves the problem temporarily.

sudo apt-get install .-2.6.38-12-generic

2011-11-04 Thread HalfEmptyHero
@corck

Did you try adding the modprobe conf file? For me in Oneiric the
modprobe -r firewire_ohci isn't needed, just the modprobe

sudo su
echo "sdhci debug_quirks=0x40" > /etc/modprobe.d/sd_reader.conf"

rmmod sdhci_pci sdhci
modprobe sdhci
modprobe sdhci_pci
update-initramfs -u

exit

2011-11-04 Thread corck
So, same problem for me on Oneiric using a Dell Vostro 1510.
The built in reader is not recognised anymore after oneiric upgrade. Was
working fine on Natty

"sudo modprobe -r firewire_ohci" doesnt fix it for me.

Other workarounds?

Hi.
I upgraded to Oneiric Ocelot a few days ago. After that the SD-card auto-mount
without the "sudo modprobe -r firewire_ohci" command, but I still have "options
sdhci debug_quirks=0x40" in one of my blacklistfiles in /etc/modprobe.d.
