[Bug 807586] Re: Firefox 5.0 Doesn't prompt to Update or Save my Email Password

2011-07-11 Thread William Ranvaud
Hello again varuna!
Well, I've tried everything in details and on step 8, 9 and 10 FF asked me to
update my password!
So let's try to find what's going on with your browser.
First of all see if 'private browsing' is turned off, under tools Start/stop
private browsing. (it should show 'Start private browsing' for it to be off).
Also ensure that on edit preferences privacy history, that FF wil:
'remember history' (that is similar to private browsing).
When you are in private mode none of the informations you enter are saved
including your passwords off course.
If you chose to clear your history when closing FF or clear recent history
manually, it might have the same effect as a private browsing.

Mind that you can only be logged into ONE Google account at a time.

Some sites turn the auto-completion off, and there's nothing you can do about
it (but this should not be the case of mail.google.com). To get around this
problem you might download this add on that allows you to manually edit
passwords.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/saved-password-editor/

Does any of this solve your issue?

[Bug 807586] Re: Firefox 5.0 Doesn't prompt to Update or Save my Email Password

2011-07-10 Thread William Ranvaud
Hi varuna,
I followed the steps as you described but was always prompted to remember the
password and it did remember.
I changed passwords and switched from the two gmail accounts I have... It
worked well.
Maybe I'm missing something here but I'm unable to reproduce the error you are
reporting in order to validate the bug.

I think that what you are doing is changing the password on your mail account
and then try to log in with the password stored in Firefox. In this case
firefox will not prompt you to change password since it already successfully
loged-in previously with this password. BUT if you change the password on the
dialogue box of gmail login then FF should always prompt you with the 'change
password' dialogue box.
Please inform me about this in order for me to know what to do with the bug
report.

[Bug 807586] Re: Firefox 5.0 Doesn't prompt to Update or Save my Email Password

2011-07-10 Thread varuna
Hi Wiliam

Below is the procedure I followed
1 I Entered https://mail.google.com at The Firefox 5.0 Address bar
2 Clicked the Can't access your account? , The I was taken to the screen to
enter the email
address (
https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery?service=mailcontinue=https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F%3Fui%3Dhtml%26zy%3Dl)
to which I am not able to access and the to the screen
(https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery/verifycaptcha) where to type the
characters that is displayed in a picture and the title under the heading
Password assistance for email address below said Type the characters that
you see in the picture below.

3 In the next screen taken to I was offered with options to select the options
to select that would can be used to get access to change the password and I
selected Get a verification code on my phone: ..##,
as a result I was sent a verification code through a text message

4 I was taken to Reset Password screen and offered to enter the new
password, with two text boxes, one to enter the new password first and
the second to re-enter the new password then I the drop down box to
Update the password appeared and I clicked Update Password and I
signed out

5 The loin screen appeared I selected the Email address of which I
changed the password just moment ago a password in dot format was
automatically displayed in the text box to which is to enter the
password

6 I clicked Sign in Button

7 The screen served was the same with the title The username or
password you entered is incorrect. [?] just above the text box to
which the password is to be entered

8 I the entered the new password to which I had changed by going through
the above mentioned process and I was taken to the personal settings
screen which did bear the Heading Personal Settings, it address
https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount; , I then clicked Gmail
which is under the section Products and I was taken to my Gmail
account, the next action i did was to Sign out.

9 Now I am at The Sign in with your Google Account page and I selected
the Email Address of the password to which I had changed and a password
in dot format appeared in the password text box , oops again the message
The username or password you entered is incorrect. [?] , even now I
was not offered with the Drop Down box to Update password. I entered the
correct password and was successfully logged in, even now I was not
severed with Update Password Drop Down box.I signed out again.

10 Just as before I selected the Email address of which password I had
changed, a password in dot format appeared in dot format, I clicked Sign
in Button oops The username or password you entered is incorrect. [?]
I entered the correct password and was successfully logged in and this
keeps going on and I am not offered with the Update password Drop Down
Box even at the login Screen as you can see from the above

Pls Note:- I think this may be happening because there are
several email address to be selected each having different passwords.
The Email address I changed the password is the last and and the 7th in
set of Email addresses

Hi William
 I did the below
In the menu bar
 Edit--Preferences--Security section--Clicked the Saved
Password Button--typed the email address of the password I had changed into,
the email address as Username appears in the right Column with the site in the
opposite column to which the particular email address is used as the
Username(The particular Email Address we are talking about is used only for the
Google account to be exact the Email address)--Clicked Remove Button---
Quit Firefox--Again Started Firefox--Entered the Email address of which I
changed the password(This time the Email address didn't appear in the set of
Google User-name List)--Entered the Email Address, no password appeared in the
password box, entered the correct password, logged in successfully and I was
not prompted to Save the Password or Update or any kind of that sort of dialog
box did not appear that would next time make appear the password be entered
automatically once the Google account or the Email Address is selected or
entered manually.

2011-07-08 Thread William Ranvaud
Hello varuna,
Can you please check on Edit Preferences Security if the box 'Remember
password for sites' is checked and if the sites you are accessing are not in
the Exceptions list?
You can also manually remove old passwords with the 'Saved passwords' button.
Please tell me if this solves your issues or if the bug persists.
Thanks.

[Bug 807586] Re: Firefox 5.0 Doesn't prompt to Update or Save my Email Password

2011-07-08 Thread varuna
Hello William
I did as you suggested and the box 'Remember password for sites'
checked and also https://mail.google.com is not in the exceptions list. There
are not saved passwords for the particular Email account, I checked that by
typing the Username or the first part of the Gmail Address.

But Today I changed the password twice and what I noticed was:
After changing the password and logging out and if I type the the
password wrongly it will add the wrong password and If I miss to press the
Remember password button or the Update password Button since I am trying to
enter the correct password The Remember Or Update password Button Disappears,
Than after that even if the password is entered correctly or the password is
changed the box to 'Remember password' or Update password' Button never
appears. This takes place even if there is no entry at all or there is a wrong
password in the saved password list.

2011-07-08 Thread varuna
Hello williiam'
1 Change the password and clear any entry for the particular
Email address Under the saved password list
  2 Log out
  3 Enter a Wrong Password
4 Reject Remember Password by clicking the X at the 'Remember
Password' drop down
5 Enter the correct password

After that You will not be prompted to save or to Update the password
even if the 'Remember password' is checked
