Does anyone still have this issue based on packages from official Ubuntu
archives? If not, I will close it within the month if we can no produce
a reproduceable case. Also, lowering the importance based on comments.

[Bug 80949] Re: firefox crash segfault (core dumped) with some websites

2007-11-27 Thread santana
Hi had these problems too, I think because I had flash installed
directly from adobe and java installed directly from sun (then adpet
didn't know about them). The dist-upgrade didn't recognize that these
were there and needed to be re-installed with the new firefox. To fix
Uninstall firefox and all firefox plugins that you canfrom within adept
then rm -rf all firefox and mozilla directories in home folder and lib.
see sudo find / -n '*firefox*' and sudo find / -n '*moz*' Then reinstall
firefox and plugins from adept and reinstall flash from adobe.

[Bug 80949] Re: firefox crash segfault (core dumped) with some websites

2007-02-19 Thread Kurt J. Bosch
With flashplugin-nonfree 9 (edgy-backports) there is no problem.

Occures every time when only libflash-mozplugin is installed.

If both are installed there seems to be no problem too.

It used to happen when libflash-mozplugin and flashplugin-nonfree 7
(multiverse) where installed, but installation of flashplugin-nonfree 7 seems
no longer possible.
'automatic installation failed due to network problems or upstream changes'

I attach about_plugins (flashplugin-nonfree 9 only). Don't know if any
of the other plugins are relevant here.

[Bug 80949] Re: firefox crash segfault (core dumped) with some websites

2007-02-17 Thread Kurt J. Bosch
The problem seems to be related to libflash-mozplugin
*not* flashplugin-nonfree.

What I did to reproduce:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree/edgy-backports
Result: firefox worked without problem three times

sudo apt-get install libflash-mozplugin
Result: firefox worked without problem three times

sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree
Result: firefox is crashing each time

sudo apt-get remove libflash-mozplugin

Result: firefox worked without problem three times
 (but without flash)

Some Notes:
I started firefox using path /usr/lib/firefox/firefox
this time, because my symlink /usr/bin/firefox is diverted.
I restored /etc/firefox/firefoxrc to normal.
I used an extra user account (unchanged) with gnome for testing.

Problem appears with webpage

[Bug 80949] Re: firefox crash segfault (core dumped) with some websites

2007-01-22 Thread Kurt J. Bosch
OK - I tried it again and now it happens with the non-ubuntu firefox too.
Seems to happen offen but not every time.

moved plugins dir away - problem was gone away

page containes flash stuff

restored plugins dir

dpkg-query ... '*flash*'
flashplugin-nonfree 7.0.68~ubuntu3
install ok installed libflash-mozplugin 0.4.13-8ubuntu1
install ok installed libflash0c2 0.4.13-8ubuntu1

sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree

happens again

sudo apt-get remove libflash-mozplugin

fixed (but no flash any more)

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
automatic installation failed due to network problems or upstream changes

installed flash-plugin using firefox

now it works (again)

hope this solved it now :)
