[Bug 81045] Re: [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving
Michael, does 'xset dpms force off' turn off the backlight? If not, this bug is with X and not with gnome-power-manager -- [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving https://launchpad.net/bugs/81045 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81045] Re: [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving
IMHO this is definitely not intended to work like that. Power management means energy saving, so the backlight should be turned off. -- [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving https://launchpad.net/bugs/81045 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81045] Re: [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving
Setting this to gnome-power-manager, not entirely sure if this is the right place to put it so I won't confirm it myself. ** Changed in: Ubuntu Sourcepackagename: None => gnome-power-manager -- [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving https://launchpad.net/bugs/81045 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81045] Re: [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving
I can duplicate this on my laptop with Edgy. Also with a radeon x700 Step 1) On the menu go to System > Preferences > Power Management Step 2) On the battery power tab, select a time to "Put Display to Sleep" Step 3) Wait X amount of minutes and the screen will go black, however the backlight remains on. I'm not sure if this is even a bug, or how it's intended to work. It seems silly to me but who knows. -- [Edgy] Screen isn't switched off on energy saving https://launchpad.net/bugs/81045 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
