Alan Pope ㋛, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be
tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the
following in a terminal while booted into a Ubuntu repository kernel (not a
mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

For more on this, please read the official Ubuntu documentation:

[Bug 811440] Re: CE: hpet increased min_delta_ns to 20113 nsec after ~30 minutes from the boot

2013-11-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Raul SA, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc1

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 811440] Re: CE: hpet increased min_delta_ns to 20113 nsec after ~30 minutes from the boot

2012-09-24 Thread Guy
This morning I have now two messages at the same time (3.2.0-31-generic)
:

09-24 11:44 kernel: [15662.284460] CE: hpet increased min_delta_ns to 20113 nsec
09-24 11:44 kernel: [15662.284785] CE: hpet increased min_delta_ns to 30169 nsec

I would like to mention that I'm using two unifying logitech receivers
because my mouse had to be changed three days ago, the keyboard and
mouse are not yet paired. I'm asking myself if this could be a reason
for this messages. As soon as they will be paired I will see if a get
one or two messages... Before I had only one as mentionned in #9.

2011-10-24 Thread Effenberg0x0
Didn't happen in RC8. As a curiosity: There are 97 bug reports here at
launchpad (related, unrelated) in which users (willingly, unwillingly)
posted their logs with this error message. I see it's out of the scope
of Ubuntu and will report to kernel.org.

Thanks,

2011-10-13 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the release
candidate kernel versus the daily build. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This
can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag
located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-
upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 811440] Re: CE: hpet increased min_delta_ns to 20113 nsec after ~30 minutes from the boot

2011-10-13 Thread Effenberg0x0
Well, I think I can say that both RC8 and 3.1.0-999.201110040905_amd64
are very likely free from this problem. I could not install RC9 (had a
weird dependency problem).

I tested two machines for exactly 45 minutes and had no mention
whatsoever to the min_delta message reported here. Normally in a matter
of 10 minutes I had lots of instances of the message.

The PCs were under heavy use: playing mp3 over network, running
VirtualBox host with Win7-64 Guests, OpenGL tests, accelerated desktop
(Nvidia), 1080p video playing, libreoffice, browsing, using network
(smb) for large file transfers, plus more stuff. I'll keep them in
stress test for a day and report again, but at this point I'm pretty
sure if we still had the problem dmesg would be full of the min_delta
increase msgs.

Regards,
Effenberg

2011-10-12 Thread Effenberg0x0
I have two desktops with the ASUS M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 Motherboard. Both
have the same internal components and configs, except for the VGA
models.

## SETUP ##
ASUS M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 Motherboard (specs:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A89GTD_PROUSB3/#specifications)
Realtec ALC892 Sound (snd-hda-intel)
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T BE (Black Edition)
4 x Kingston DDR3 1333 4GB (16GB in each PC)
Nvidia 9500GT / Nvidia GTS500 - Using proprietary Nvidia drivers v. 285.05.09
(64Bit)
1 x Western Digital SATA3 1TB Black Edition HDD (motherboard AHCI mode)
Corsair PSU 800W
OS: Ubuntu Oneiric 64Bit
Kernel: 3.0.0-0300-generic #201107220917 SMP Fri Jul 22 09:20:45 UTC 2011
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Both present this message on dmesg, while other similar PCs here don't
have this message.

Adding clocksource=tsc to grub options makes the message go away.
