[Bug 815148] Re: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory
Since Oneiric, I cannot reproduce this bug on my hardware anymore. Development release is Ok as well. Kernels 3.0 and 3.2 work fine too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815148 Title: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/815148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 815148] Re: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory
Gall, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815148 Title: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/815148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 815148] Re: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory
I am experiencing the same error on Debian with manually compiled upstream kernel 3.1 (and with 3.0 as well, including distro kernel). Any ideas what might have changed in Oneric Ocelot that fixed the issue? For example the firmware? Could you please tell me what this does for you: $ dmesg | grep firmware [5.888155] iwlagn :03:00.0: loaded firmware version 17.168.5.1 build 33993 Thanks guys. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815148 Title: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/815148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 815148] Re: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory

[Bug 815148] Re: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory
Well, new firmware doesn't help. It must be something else, then. Anyway, I have this problem only with WPA-EAP networks — my home WPA2-PSK works well. I'm not sure about WPA2, but I guess that would be problematic too. Seems it's working fine on Oneric Ocelot. Today I used WPA encrypted Wi-Fi over two hours and nothing was corrupted. [Bug 815148] Re: iwlagn wifi driver in wpa mode corrupts processes' memory
I can confirm this bug. When I connect to my university's network (using WPA) most of the times my complete system freezes. If it doesn't freeze then sometimes weird behaviour of programs occur. For example the file names below the icons in the nautilus file manager get very strange and incorrect values. I don't get this faulty behaviour when connected to a network that does not use WPA. I am experiencing these problems since the installation of Ubuntu 11.4 in April. Before that I never had these problems, but I don't know if Ubuntu used the same driver in the preceding versions. This bug really makes the system unusable and I can imagine it may cause damage to data or data loss. I really hope that you put some priority on this bug since its effects are quite serious. Also consider the fact that many people might not see the relation between their crashing system or the weird behaviour and this driver, and therefore they won't report this bug.
