Looking at the provided backtrace from compiz it seems to be originating from unity::BGHash::OnBackgroundChanged(). I've switched to lightdm and tried switching to all kinds of different background-wallpapers. No change triggered a crash. I'd say this is fixed probably. Also Hernando hasn't encountered this crasher for a while.
