[Bug 832673] Re: Error message when you try to view the report

2012-07-23 Thread Daniel Manrique
I'll set this as Fix Released since the behavior seems to not occur on
later releases; please feel free to reopen and provide further details
if this problem resurfaces.

Thanks!

[Bug 832673] Re: Error message when you try to view the report

2012-07-19 Thread Daniel Manrique
Hi Craig,

The problem you mention with Chromium not opening XML files produced by
checkbox has been reported as bug 1026614 and we should address it
separately.

Now for the issue at hand here: there's some inconsistency in how to
fetch default browser information from the system, and there's, sadly,
little that Checkbox can do about that.

To find out which application Checkbox will use to open the report, you
can put this in a text file (call it get-browser.py):

from gi.repository import Gio
print Gio.app_info_get_default_for_type(application/xml,
False).get_executable()

then run it:

$ python get-browser.py

If this doesn't get the browser you configured in System Settings -
Details - Default Applications, then it may be getting it from a
different setting, namely the one in /etc/alternatives. To see which
browser this points to, do:

update-alternatives --display gnome-www-browser
update-alternatives --display x-www-browser

If these don't point to your desired browser, you can change this by:

sudo update-alternatives --config gnome-www-browser

[Bug 832673] Re: Error message when you try to view the report

2012-07-18 Thread Craig Allard
In Precise, I get different (better/correct) behavior.
While Chrome is still my default browser, the View Results button now opens the
file using Firefox.
I do not receive any pop-up error message.
From that perspective, it seems this is fixed.

However: If I manually open the file using Chrome, nothing is rendered
by the browser.

The file seems to be valid xml - must be a Chrome problem.
I didn't try to see what happens if I uninstall Firefox and repeat the test.

[Bug 832673] Re: Error message when you try to view the report

2011-10-18 Thread Craig Allard
I'm able to reproduce this. I'll add some screenshots and my
submission.xml file.

Hopefully this is helpful information.

 - I'm on 11.10 (upgraded from 11.04).
 - I get this error about not being able to launch from both the View Report
link and the link to login to launchpad.
 - I can open the submission.xml file in BlueFish editor, and in Firefox (if I
manually open the file).
 - If I try to open the submission.xml file in Chrome, I get no response/blank
page.
 - My default browser is Chrome.

2011-09-09 Thread Marc Tardif
Amber, if you are able to reproduce this again, could you manually
attach the submission.xml file to this bug report which will appear
under ~/.cache/checkbox/submission.xml? I tried looking at the
submission.xml file attached to this message and it works fine for me.
Also, I can't seem to reproduce the problem on my system, so I can't
troubleshoot this one at this point.

This one is very bad for user experience. If you cannot review the
report, are you going to trust to send it to Launchpad? Setting it to
High and milestone it to next release.
