[Bug 83280] Re: upgrade to edgy: segmentation fault updating libc6
The machine may be a bit old, but is usually running under heavy RAM load and never experiencing any segfaults or other crashes. -- upgrade to edgy: segmentation fault updating libc6 https://launchpad.net/bugs/83280 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 83280] Re: upgrade to edgy: segmentation fault updating libc6
Could you please check if the hardware of the machine is ok? Do you experience segfaults sometimes? There might be a issue with the RAM of the machine? ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Needs Info ** Also affects: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- upgrade to edgy: segmentation fault updating libc6 https://launchpad.net/bugs/83280 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for your bugreport. Setting up libc6 (2.4-1ubuntu12.3) ... Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/glibc.sh ... buntu7_i386.deb) ... dpkg: error processing libc6 (--configure): subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Segmentation fault) Errors were encountered while processing: libc6 >From your last comment I figure that you were not able to reproduce the segmentation fault again? [Bug 83280] Re: upgrade to edgy: segmentation fault updating libc6
well so my update finished like this after the install -f: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get remove librep9 sudo apt-get install -f sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade now that was funny :-( Good point: it's still working after the reboot! and for libc6: dpkg -l libc6 ii libc6 2.4-1ubuntu12.
