The machine may be a bit old, but is usually running under heavy RAM
load and never experiencing any segfaults or other crashes.

2007-02-05 Thread Michael Vogt
Could you please check if the hardware of the machine is ok? Do you
experience segfaults sometimes? There might be a issue with the RAM of
the machine?

Thanks for your bugreport.

Setting up libc6 (2.4-1ubuntu12.3) ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/glibc.sh ...

dpkg: error processing libc6 (--configure):

segmentation fault again?

Thanks,

[Bug 83280] Re: upgrade to edgy: segmentation fault updating libc6

2007-02-04 Thread Georges

well so my update finished like this after the install -f:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get remove librep9
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

now that was funny :-(

Good point: it's still working after the reboot!

and for libc6:
dpkg -l libc6
ii libc6 2.4-1ubuntu12. GNU C Library: Shared libraries

I continued with apt-get install -f

No idea what is going to happen to my libc6...

I closed the error window, the install continues a little then this pops
up:

"Could not install the upgrades

The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery was run (dpkg --configure -a).

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include
the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.

and the terminal says:
