Thank you very much for your quick response. That is exactly the correct format for the patch. Unfortunately, it does not apply to the current development snapshot, for the following reasons: 1) The distribution in your changelog entry must be "gutsy" rather than "feisty". 2) The version of sendmail currently in gutsy is 8.14.1-2, and your patch is against version 8.13.8-3 Could you please reprocess your patch against the current development version, and target the current development release? UCAP, Thanks for submitting this patch, which is indeed sufficient to fix the issue. If you are interested in learning the packaging process, you will want to take the following steps 0) Install devscriots - `aptitude install devscripts` 1) download the latest sendmail source `apt-get source sendmail` 2) apply your patch (or, given the size, edit update_tls.in directly) 3) in the base directory, run `dch -i` add a comment about your change and (LP: 83673) to reference this bug 4) run `debuild -S` to prepare a new Ubuntu revision 5) build and test a binary (pbuilder and sbuild are good, but running `debuild -b` works as well) 6) create a debdiff for submission with `debdiff old-revision.dsc new-revision.dsc` 7) Attach the debdiff to this bug.
