[Bug 84246] Re: USB power to mobile phone

2008-08-29 Thread oss_test_launchpad
This seems hardware specific. From what other users tell me, newer
computers tend not to produce this problem. However, the old notebook in
use for testing when I reported this is no longer in use, so sorry I am
not of much help.

What I can say is that there is a problem sometimes even with newer
computers when the mobile is completely empty. I cannot, however, see
any logic in when this happens and when it doesn't. It has nothing to do
with the cable itself.

[Bug 84246] Re: USB power to mobile phone

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

2008-08-12 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi Everyone,

Care to confirm this is still an issue with the latest Hardy Heron 8.04
release ? Subsequently if the issue still exists, care to test the
latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex? Thanks.

same problem here, tested on tow laptos and one desktop, all have the
same problem, the desktop and one of the laptops have intel chipsets the
other laptop has an AMD/ATI chipset... this is a very big problem for
me because it makes difficult to use USB/serial adapters, some FTDI
adapters get automatically disconnected after a few seconds when idle...

I'm having the same exact problem. I'm using and HP nc6230, and this
neither works when running on AC or battery power. Very frustrating when
you need to count on something like this.

USB power is managed by ACPI. Try the Feisty 1 Beta to be released on
3/22/2007. There may also be some motherboard jumpers that can have an
affect.

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

If it is a laptop on battery then this could well be a power-manager
issue. In that power-manager is conserving power for you to utilise
your laptop.
