[Bug 847691] Re: blank external monitor, with no cursor, after login
Ah! A suspend to RAM and resume fixed it. (Docked, but that may not have been necessary.) It looks like some stale state somewhere associated with suspending. It is possible that my laptop powered down while in the suspended state just before the problem appearing (I'm not certain). Any idea where could that stale state be? Which scripts to look at, when this happens again etc.? Otherwise, I seem to have a workaround, and things are back to normal, so you can close this if you want. Thanks anyway. BTW, this was on a Dell Precision M4500 with an Nvidia Quadro FX 880M. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847691 Title: blank external monitor, with no cursor, after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/847691/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I installed gdm and made it the default in hopes that it'd be a kde specific problem, and rebooted, but I still got the same problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847691 Title: blank external monitor, with no cursor, after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/847691/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

> for a short second I can move the cursor to the external monitor and see e.g. the password dialog box there What I mean is that I can move the cursor to the external monitor, and _see it_ too. But only for a second. I goes away quickly.
