[Bug 850772] Re: False GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00000012
Okay, that starts to make sense; I wondered if it might be something like that. Would you mind booting to a LiveCD and see if the hang reproduces? What I'm thinking is that it's not unusual for random config files, settings, etc. to accumulate over time. In theory Ubuntu should work fine swapped between hardware, but given that you say you're seeing other bugs too I have to wonder if you've just got some cruft built up. So testing a LiveCD should avoid all of that. Fwiw, while in theory a Ubuntu installation should transfer fine from computer to computer, with my own hardware I don't trust that and always do fresh reinstalls (after backing up all my personal files). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850772 Title: False GPU lockup EIR: 0x0010 PGTBL_ER: 0x0012 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/850772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This Ubuntu installation has passed through 2 different computers: 1) HP/Compaq dx5150 (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12105_div/12105_div.HTML) 2) HP/Compaq dc5750 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/12454-12454-64287-321860-3328896-3253421.html) IIRC, I had been getting this error since I started using Unity when I installed the first alpha of the upcoming 11.10 (before I upgraded my computer). The truth is that I have being getting so many problems with the Unity desktop that I didn't bother to report all of them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850772 Title: False GPU lockup EIR: 0x0010 PGTBL_ER: 0x0012 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/850772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 850772] Re: False GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00000012
Huh, this is weird. You got an intel GPU hang/recover, and the i915 driver is loaded, but you don't seem to have any intel graphics chips in your pci list, but rather a radeon card. And you have some sort of virtualbox thing going. Having both i915 and radeon kernel modules is probably not going to lead to good things for you, and however it happened we should ensure it doesn't. Ok, I'm going to need you to tell me the story of this computer. Where'd it come from, what have you done with it, etc. Please include any detail that might be relevant. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850772 Title: False GPU lockup EIR: 0x0010 PGTBL_ER: 0x0012 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/850772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
