I am experiencing this same problem. I have Ubuntu 8.10 all updated and using Rhythmbox 0.11.6. It is annoying when Im looking for an artist and it crashes! Its not a complete program crash. Rhythmbox slows down considerably, to an unusable state. Sometimes it goes all white. After 20-30 seconds it comes back again.
