I am performing clean install of Ubuntu 18.04 on my new SSD drive. reinstall 18.04 and before that back up all your data to another external harddisk before installing 18.04. In your machine previous grub is already installed.so to remove that I would say delete all the partitions and then again install the grub or linux.before that backup all your data. I have a 4 month old Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with 16 GB Memory, 512 GB SSD and i7 processor. Previously installed Linux Suse and its boot remains loader installed & do not know how to remove. I changed the SSD Had Drive from RAID to AHCI and Disabled Secure Boot. Now Ubuntu starts to install like a dream, but fails to install the Grub2 boot loader. Must be something very simple to fix. This problem looks similar to many other problems... it may change Ubuntu to an impopular distribution, especially if nobody can install Ubuntu anymore...
