reinstall 18.04 and before that back up all your data to another external
harddisk before installing 18.04.

[Bug 8567] Re: installation failure at "grub" step, dell inspiron 4150

I had Ubuntu Mate 17.10 installed previously.

The Ubuntu 18.04 installer crashed when trying to install Grub at very
end of the 18.04 install.

2017-11-19 Thread CHINMOY GHOSH
In your machine previous grub is already installed.so to remove that I
would say delete all the partitions and then again install the grub or
linux.before that backup all your data.
Thanks for asking the problem.

[Bug 8567] Re: installation failure at "grub" step, dell inspiron 4150

2017-11-18 Thread Julia Devi Khan
I have a 4 month old Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with 16 GB Memory, 512 GB SSD and i7
processor.
Previously installed Linux Suse and its boot remains loader installed & do not
know how to remove.
I changed the SSD Had Drive from RAID to AHCI and Disabled Secure Boot.
Now Ubuntu starts to install like a dream, but fails to install the Grub2 boot
loader.
Must be something very simple to fix.
Can you please help?
Thank you.
Julia.

This problem looks similar to many other problems... it may change
Ubuntu to an impopular distribution, especially if nobody can install
Ubuntu anymore... I would increase priority!!
