Public bug reported: I installed Kubuntu Oneiric Beta 2 for i386 (ISO md5sum 5d9b52f0ff977353d899b5ff61031ee6) on a Dell D600. Neither the freshly installed system nor the system that resulted from a dist-upgrade at 17:30 CDT can display windows correctly -- see the attached screen shot.
Kubuntu has no problem running from a live USB made from the ISO. so I hope this is a Kubuntu problem, not a KDE problem.
