More testing. Not only does the audio applet become non responsive during meta+w or Scale, but ALL applets on panel freeze. Pressing meta+w or click with mouse for Scale, then clicking another applet unfreezes applet. It is not possible to click another applet and unfreeze unless the desktop arrangement is normalised [by pressing meta+w again] then it is easy. Music playing while this is enacted is not affected.
