[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
Dear Christopher, I've tested this bug on a live session of 14.04 as per 27-12-2013 and the camera works fine, so the issue is not there any more. It persist though on the 12.04 stock, so at the moment when I need to use this camera I use an upstream kernel. [Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
Dear Christopher, With regard to myself, I can live with switching the kernel each time I need to use the camera, and eventually I will migrate to 14.04, but the bug is still valid and I don't know how who else is having the same problem. It is your call. [Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
Kiko Barcelli, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, it is not my call if you want a backport or not. Either you do, or you don't. If you do, then that could be pursued. If you don't, it's considered closed as Invalid, and who may or may not potentially have this exact issue has no bearing on this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863351 Title: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/863351/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
Dear Christopher, Understood. Then, it is safe not to backport it, because it is not a big issue to change the kernel every time I need to use this camera. You may consider this closed. Kiko Barcelli, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? [Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
Hi Christopher, I am confused about how to do the bisection. Perhaps you can give me some guidance. 1.- So far from the Mainline Kernels: 3.3.0-030300-generic-paeDoes not work 3.3.1-030301-generic-paeDoes not work 3.4.0-030400rc1-generic-pae Works 3.4.0-030400rc2-generic-pae Works 2.- Then I tried to do the bisection, so I cloned the ubuntu-precise tree, but the tip of this tree is Ubuntu-3.2.0-22.35, which I think is before the commit that allowed my camera to work How can I do the bisection correctly? [Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
Hi Christopher, I am still having this problem in my 10.04 box. I used a live CD of 11.10 and installed Cheese to test the camera and the problem remains unsolved. I don't know how to test an upstream kernel... I could do it if you point me to the right how-to. Thanks!
[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric running-unity staging ** Description changed: I have a webcam Logitech Communicate STX, which connects via USB and has integrated USB microphone. The audio is working just fine. My problem is with the video, when I start an application like Cheese, gstreamer-properties, vlc or empathy the video starts, but shortly after it freezes. Initially I thought it froze completely, but it didn't, if I make some movement very close to the camera (ie. moving my hand swiftly in front of it) it will start sending video again, but as soon as I stop this fast movement, the camera will freeze again.
