[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement

2014-01-02 Thread Kiko Barcelli
Dear Christopher, I've tested this bug on a live session of 14.04 as per
27-12-2013 and the camera works fine, so the issue is not there any more.
It persist though on the 12.04 stock, so at the moment when I need to use this
camera I use an upstream kernel.

Regards!

Kiko Barcelli, would you need a backport to a release prior to Trusty,
or may this be closed as Invalid?

2014-01-02 Thread Kiko Barcelli
Dear Christopher,
With regard to myself, I can live with switching the kernel each time I need to
use the camera, and eventually I will migrate to 14.04, but the bug is still
valid and I don't know how who else is having the same problem.
It is your call.

Kiko Barcelli, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, it is not my
call if you want a backport or not. Either you do, or you don't. If you
do, then that could be pursued. If you don't, it's considered closed as
Invalid, and who may or may not potentially have this exact issue has no
bearing on this.

Dear Christopher,
Understood. Then, it is safe not to backport it, because it is not a big issue
to change the kernel every time I need to use this camera.
You may consider this closed.
Thanks.

[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement

2013-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Kiko Barcelli, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

I too am having this exact bug, and with the kernel 3.5.0-2 in the xorg-
edgers ppa it is not present. There must have been a regression of some
sort.

I am runing Kubuntu 12.04

[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement

2012-04-09 Thread Kiko Barcelli
Hi Christopher,
I am confused about how to do the bisection.
Perhaps you can give me some guidance.

1.- So far from the Mainline Kernels:

3.3.0-030300-generic-paeDoes not work
3.3.1-030301-generic-paeDoes not work
3.4.0-030400rc1-generic-pae Works
3.4.0-030400rc2-generic-pae Works

2.- Then I tried to do the bisection, so I cloned the ubuntu-precise
tree, but the tip of this tree is Ubuntu-3.2.0-22.35, which I think is
before the commit that allowed my camera to work

How can I do the bisection correctly?

Thanks,

Kiko

2012-04-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

I have a webcam Logitech Communicate STX, which connects via USB and has
integrated USB microphone.
The audio is working just fine.
My problem is with the video, when I start an application like Cheese,

freezes.
Initially I thought it froze completely, but it didn't, if I make some

Kiko Barcelli, the next step is to identify the specific commit that
allows your webcam to function properly. Could you please do so
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

2012-04-05 Thread Kiko Barcelli
Hi, I tested the kernel 3.4.0-999-generic-pae and the camera works.
Does this mean that I can use a newer kernel and my problem will be solved?
What are the risks associated with doing this?
Thanks

[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement

2012-04-05 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Marking Triaged Medium as mainline tested and this is a problem with a
non-essential hardware component (webcam).

** Description changed:

I have a webcam Logitech Communicate STX, which connects via USB and has
integrated USB microphone.
The audio is working just fine.
My problem is with the video, when I start an application like Cheese,
gstreamer-properties, vlc or empathy the video starts, but shortly after it
freezes.
Initially I thought it froze completely, but it didn't, if I make some
movement very close to the camera (ie. moving my hand swiftly in front of it)
it will start sending video again, but as soon as I stop this fast movement,
the camera will freeze again.

[Bug 863351] Re: 046d:08d7 Logitech Webcam stops if there is no movement

2012-04-04 Thread Kiko Barcelli
Hi Christopher, I am still having this problem in my 10.04 box.

I used a live CD of 11.10 and installed Cheese to test the camera and
the problem remains unsolved.

I don't know how to test an upstream kernel... I could do it if you
point me to the right how-to.

Thanks!
