Still an issue. I've confirmed that OP's HP Mini also uses a Broadcom chipset. Thanks to an ArchLinux forum thread, I discovered that the issue is with multiple drivers trying to manage the Broadcom chip. I'm using the restricted "wl" driver, but the opensource drivers load too. Also seeing this with a Broadcom BCM43224 (WiFi chip in a Macbook Air 3,1) joining an ad-hoc network that worked under Natty.
