As far as I can tell, nothing has changed with the recent updates. For me, this means I still have exactly the same symptoms as in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/beryl-core/+bug/86797/comments/6 I run XGL with an ATI Xpress 200M card on amd64. I still have problem with compiz after updates. I don't know wether this will be fixed or not. But I think the transition to X.org 7.2 is not finished. We still have to update the drivers. So maybe this will be fixed when the drivers are synced (maybe not). same thing with nvidia card, no new windows can appear, but can still switch between current windows, rotate cubes etc. seems something has gone wrong with the mapping of windows in both beryl and compiz. I can confirm that a few days ago compiz stopped working - on a fresh install with an nvidia card, enabling desktop effects makes the already present windows go wobbly, but no new windows can appear, including the one counting down before reverting to Metacity. If I minimize a window it disappears, but I can't restore it. Clicking on the panel menus or hovering for a tool tip does nothing. I have feisty up-to-date. I've launched compiz, and it works, though I have some problems with it (windows not showing their content, but that's another issue). But I'm running a laptop with an Intel GMA, with the i810 driver.
