I have checked, and setting the scaling factor to 0.95 did not help me to reproduce this on Oneiric. I just tested it using a newly created user account. The problem no longer occurs, therefore this might be a problem with some remnants of 11.04 configuration. The bug is caused by having the dconf setting org/gnome/desktop/interface/text-scaling-factor set to 0.95.
