[Bug 872895] Re: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working
I tested both v2.6.39-rc4-natty and v3.1-rc9-oneiric but the bug persists. I verified with uname -a that I was running that kernels. Anyone have any idea of something more I can test? and why this may be happening (just when using OpenSource ATI video driver)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872895 Title: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/872895/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 872895] Re: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working
Actually I think it would be preferable to try the most recent build available, which is currently http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.1-rc9-oneiric/ The -series just specifies the configuration used for the build, and there's nothing wrong with using an oneiric kernel configuration with a natty userland.

Joseph, I can understand what upstream kernel version I should install to test. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ My Ubuntu is Natty and I can see kernel builds for Oneiric, which are the latest ones Could you please point me to the correct version/link I should try? [Bug 872895] Re: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working
Let me say that I tested again to verify that this bug just happens when I am using the OpenSource ATI video drivers. When I am using proprietary drivers it just works as expected. I don't use proprietary drivers because I can't hibernate using them. Can you also run acpi_listen in a terminal, then press your brightness up key exactly one time, then brightness down exactly one time, and provide the output? [Bug 872895] Re: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the release candidate kernel versus the daily build. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872895 Title: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/872895/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
