EOL have been reached, so no more maintenance. If that issue still
exist, then report again using ubuntu-bug.

The changes were applied instantly and everything looks much better now.
Re-login was not required.

I think that compositing was the cause of this problem.

I will report if the problem reappears.

Could you please try disabling compositing, using this command:
`gconftool-2 --set --type bool
/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false` and then re-login?
