[Bug 880307] Re: Wi-fi won't connect in 11.10.
My wi-fi is working again. I found this command at some forum: sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source broadcom-sta-common broadcom-sta- source After that I run: dpkg --configure -a and afrerwords aptitude and suddenly wi-fi was working. I have no idea how did I do it but it works... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880307 Title: Wi-fi won't connect in 11.10. [Bug 880307] Re: Wi-fi won't connect in 11.10.
"nmcli dev wifi list" shows: SSID BSSID MODE FREQ RATE SIGNAL SECURITY ACTIVE "and iw dev wlan0 scan dump" shows nothing The strange thing is that I see the wireless networks but I can't connect.
It's unusual to not be seeing any scan results here. Could you please try the following two commands? nmcli dev wifi list iw dev wlan0 scan dump For the second one, you'll need to install the 'iw' package (sudo apt- get install iw). The goal is to try and see elsewhere if there are scan results from the driver. If nothing shows up in either command, this would end up being a driver issue. [Bug 880307] Re: Wi-fi won't connect in 11.10.
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric ** Description changed: When I updated my system to 11.10. wi-fi stopped working. I can see the available wireless networks but when I try to connect I always get the message that the password is incorrect. Password is good for sure because I actually updated the system while connected through wi-fi. On my second computer it also works fine. I even tried 3 different kernels with no result. I suspect the problem is in the ethernet driver. Here's some info: uname -a: Aspire-3100 3.1.0-030100rc10-generic lspci: 06:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
