Somewhere I found that changing libX11 the things improves, but I doubt
about it...

I'm testing Mesa 6.5.3 (git) and Xorg 7.3 (git), and this bug seems
there too...

BTW, this problem occurs with radeon drivers and FGLRX. As I remember, my 
Xorg.conf doesn't has those lines you mentioned.
I am always running Firefox, Amarok, Tilda, Gaim and Klipper in the background.
The process usage raises, mostly through firefox I think. Swiftfox doesn't help 
either. Exiting and restarting Firefox doesn't help, too.
