[Bug 885850] Re: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port
Ben Schroeder, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885850 Title: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/885850/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 885850] Re: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port
I'm having the same problem on a Dell Precision M4600. The disk is an eGo 1TB. My kernel is: 3.0.0-14-generic. Recompiling without CONFIG_USB_UAS works for me as well (based on apt-get source linux-image-3.0.0-14). Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885850 Title: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/885850/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 885850] Re: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port
I have the same problem. Since usb3 works on the same computer with sysrescuecd or mandriva, i was thinking that the problem comes from the kernel configuration, which is not the same between sysrescuecd and ubuntu Bisecting the .config file, I have found that the problem is due to option CONFIG_USB_UAS. when recompiling a kernel with CONFIG_USB_UAS disabled, usb3 works well and fast ! Since it's a kernel bug, it should be transmitted to the kernel team. [Bug 885850] Re: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port
Can you attach a screen shot of the kernel panic? Also, would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test the latest kernel (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the others). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream- testing' text. If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.1-rc9 fixed and issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed- upstream-v3.1-rc9'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Thanks in advance. ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885850 Title: USB 3.0 Iomega eGO causes Kernel Panic when plugged into USB 3.0 port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/885850/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
