The same as alFReD NSH, 13.10, 64 bit. Fixed after install of libasound2-plugins:i386. Maybe the part of the libs needed can go in a plugin or as a part of the standard ubuntu install. With skype 4.1.0.20.0-0ubuntu 12.10, the error still occurs. I tried removing pulseaudio, and also installing esound, none of which helped. Neither am I playing any sound in any other application.
