From one of the duplicate bugs: For Oneiric: It looks like this bug depends on the state of the monitor during switching, i.e. it occurs when the monitor is off/on some powersafe- settings. Steps to reproduce: 1) Turn off the external monitor 2) Go to the Monitor-config in ubuntu and disable the laptops screen and enable the external monitor (at the same time) 3) Press 'apply' 4) Switch the external monitor on 5) Observe bug When I follow these steps with an external monitor configured to the left of the laptop, the launcher bar is the correct height, but I see a second launcher bar to the right about 3/5ths of the screen width. ** Description changed: I'm using 5.0.0~+bzr1824ubuntu0+611 from the unity-team ppa. I had it working on my laptop and then I plugged in a larger external screen.
