[Bug 918949] Re: "scsi: killing requests for dead queue" each second in /var/log/kern.log

2012-02-29 Thread Joseph Salisbury
There is a newer version of the kernel(3.0.0-16.28) than the one you
tested when this issue was found. Can you test again with the newer
kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. You
can upgrade just your kernel by running the following in a terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux

If the bug still exists in the latest kernel, please change the status
back to "Confirmed". If the bug is fixed, please change the status to
"Fix Released".

Thanks in advance

Sorry, I haven't got time to test it yet at this moment. I'll try to do
it this weekend.

There is a test kernel available at:

Can you test this kernel and report back if it resolves your issue?

@little jo

Would it be possible for you to test some kernels? I'd like to revert
the commit I mentioned in my previous comment and see if it fixes your
issue.

** Attachment added: "My big kern.log"

** Summary changed:

- "scsi: killing requests for dead queue each" second in /var/log/kern.log
+ "scsi: killing requests for dead queue" each second in /var/log/kern.log

** Description changed:

  Hello,
+
+ Bug Package : linux-image-3.0.0-14-generic

I found a regression between "Linux 3.0.0-14-generic" and "Linux
  3.0.0-13-generic".

  I installed linux-image-3.0.0-14-generic on 2011-12-11. I start my computer
on 2011-12-12 :
  Dec 12 18:21:54 joseph-desktop kernel: [ 20.821145] scsi: killing requests
for dead queue
  Dec 12 18:21:55 joseph-desktop kernel: [ 21.816786] scsi: killing requests
for dead queue
  [...]
  Dec 12 23:55:32 joseph-desktop kernel: [20040.000936] scsi: killing requests
for dead queue
  Dec 12 23:55:33 joseph-desktop kernel: [20041.000856] scsi: killing requests
for dead queue
  Dec 12 23:55:34 joseph-desktop kernel: [20042.000859] scsi: killing requests
for dead queue
  Dec 12 23:55:35 joseph-desktop kernel: [20043.000888] scsi: killing requests
for dead queue

Today, I see this bug (because my computer froze and I have to push my
power button to reboot). So i tried to boot on Linux 3.0.0-13-generic
kernel. And there is no "scsi: killing requests for dead queue"
