[Bug 9261] Re: sensible-browser starts mozilla/opera/etc instead of preferred webbrowser

2011-02-15 Thread Thibault Lemaitre
As mentioned in the Bug #562476, comment #5, see [1] for details :
"Yes, it's the same issue for sensible-browser too.

This is a long-standing issue, and it is well known that the
alternatives system sucks for this type of thing. The alternatives
system is not a user-configurable preference, but is a system-wide
preference that can only be configured by the root user. In an ideal
world, applications shouldn't be using x-www-browser and gnome-www-
browser at all, as there are other ways to do this"

[Bug 9261] Re: sensible-browser starts mozilla/opera/etc instead of preferred webbrowser

2010-11-13 Thread Kangarooo
Seamonkey also rewrites x-www-browser.. bad..
so instead of installing www programm it shouldnt overtake settings
and
gnome and exo (for xubuntu) and x-www-browser settings should be the same..
so if i change something in gnome settings then it should change also x-www

** Also affects: seamonkey (Ubuntu)

[Bug 9261] Re: sensible-browser starts mozilla/opera/etc instead of preferred webbrowser

2009-11-28 Thread mac_v
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that
affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be
addressed as part of this project.

- This problem does not arise with the default apps , hence not a papercut.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.

Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as "Invalid" only in the
papercuts project.
