[Bug 931390] Re: linux generic 3.0.0.16 pae boot freeze

2012-03-25 Thread Humphrey van Polanen Petel
I had this (or a similar) problem and fell back on a previous release.
>From time to time I checked if the problem was still there and this
morning it was gone. I assume some update or other must have fixed it.

[Bug 931390] Re: linux generic 3.0.0.16 pae boot freeze

2012-03-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ananth Srisailapathy, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you
please provide information noted in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelBoot
? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD
images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach
updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 931390] Re: linux generic 3.0.0.16 pae boot freeze

2012-03-05 Thread David Lloyd
I get the same error it seems except it was a clean install onto a
MacBook Pro 8,3 and I have not been able to get past it. I can go into a
different terminal (Alt-F5) and login. The installer started out with
3.0.0.12. I did a dist-upgrade and it now has 3.0.0.16. Neither works
and I see no difference. I would be happy to post an apport but apport-
collect and apport-cli want to open a browser but it is not (I suppose
due to text mode).

2012-02-14 Thread Ananth Srisailapathy
Hi Robert! Why don't you run the diagnostic by using 'apport' and post
your log information too. May be it would be helpful for the Linux
kernel team to solve our problems better.

I'm having the same problem (3.0.0.16 freezes on Ubuntu screen on boot).
Using MacbookPro 8.3. I'm back on 3.0.0.15 for now.

Let me know if you need more information from me.
