could you try if that's still an issue in hardy or intrepid? the tools has been rewritten in hardy ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: control-center => gnome-control-center ** Changed in: gnome-control-center Status: New => Invalid -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
i checked - the screen rotation is not retained after log-out. i.e. i set the screen to normal (my default in the xorg.conf is portrait) and when i restart i have a portrait screen. there is also still no entry in the applications -> system-tools -> configuration editor. i run gutsy (updated today), gnome 2.19.6 -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
it is difficult - because the screen rotation does not rotate the wacom stylus with it (i have a table) - i have reported this bug already (on gutsy) will try with a mouse later andrew On 23 Aug 07 18 08, Sebastien Bacher wrote: > Do you still have the issue? I'm not sure I understand the request, marking unconformed, that's likely something to open upstream by somebody who can explain them what the bug is and what needs to be done ** Changed in: control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Wishlist Status: Needs Info => Unconfirmed ** Also affects: control-center (upstream) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
the option would be used to determine if the wacom stylus input is a tablet pc (and the coordinate axis must be turned with the screen) or is a separate wacom tablet, and the axis must not be turned. i would word: "working on a table pc (turn stylus coordinates with screen rotation) ?" == tick Sebastien Bacher wrote: > what do you want to do with an extra option? > > -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://launchpad.net/bugs/93788 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

what do you want to do with an extra option? -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://launchpad.net/bugs/93788 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
dear cesare, i can see that for tablet computers, the rotation should go together, for others not - so this would need an additional tick-box. i have changed the xorg.conf and have two launchers for the two small scrpts to change when i need it. so it is sufficiently solved. thank you for your help! andrew Cesare Tirabassi wrote: > I don't have the possibility of rotating my screen, so I cannot check it > myself. > Try setting that key (rotation or possibly orientation) to the wished > orientation: inverted, left or right. > This should work as a work-around solution for the time being. > > Is it a good idea for ALL users to combine the two (screen and tablet) > settings? [Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
I don't have the possibility of rotating my screen, so I cannot check it myself. Try setting that key (rotation or possibly orientation) to the wished orientation: inverted, left or right. This should work as a work-around solution for the time being. Is it a good idea for ALL users to combine the two (screen and tablet) settings? They are two separate functionalities after all. If you always use the same orientation you could make a permanent change to your xorg.conf, or launch the script at startup otherwise just manually launch the script when you change orientation. -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://launchpad.net/bugs/93788 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
when rotating the screen on a tablet computer, it is important to rotate the wacom stylus coordinates with it. the commands are (as a bashfile) for example #!/bin/bash # Tablet PC Mode Script tabletpcmode.sh # Made for the Toshiba Sattelite R15-S822 # Running Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.10 # # Last Updated: 11-18-2006 # Maintained by Justin "Linuturk" Phelps # [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # Move this script to /usr/local/bin # Run 'sudo chmod +x tabletpcmode.sh' # Be sure laptopmode.sh is installed as well xrandr -o right && xsetwacom set stylus Rotate CW exit 0 -- and corresponding for left -- CCW normal - none it would be extremely helpful the screen resolution selection would include the rotation for the stylus. could this be done? thank you andrew Cesare Tirabassi wrote: > Many thanks for you report! > > I assume you are talking about Gnome. > Is there a key for it in the configuration file? > It should be something like /desktop/gnome/screen/default/0/rotation. > > You should find the configuration editor in the System Tools menu, or > you can run it as command: gconf-editor. > > Anyhow, this doesn't change the fact that the option should be retained. > > -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://launchpad.net/bugs/93788 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
there is no key for the rotation in gconf-editor - i guess that is the error? andrew Cesare Tirabassi wrote: > Many thanks for you report!

[Bug 93788] Re: screen resolution: changes are not retained
Many thanks for you report! I assume you are talking about Gnome. Is there a key for it in the configuration file? It should be something like /desktop/gnome/screen/default/0/rotation. You should find the configuration editor in the System Tools menu, or you can run it as command: gconf-editor. Anyhow, this doesn't change the fact that the option should be retained. -- screen resolution: changes are not retained https://launchpad.net/bugs/93788 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
