Thanks for the output so far. According to your lspci output, ATI claims to officially support your card. So what do we have: X works with the fglrx driver, but doesn't do accelerated 3D, and restricted-manager does not show it as 'in use'. Correct? This would happen if the fglrx kernel module is not loaded. Please confirm that lsmod | grep fglrx does not output anything.
