Right now im using the preinstalled driver. Everything works fine (and fast), that definetely wasnt the case in 11.10. Even Gnome Shell works fine now. When i was using the ATI driver instead everything was pretty slow and the opposite of smooth. I tried to reproduce the bug in Unity 2D. In Unity 2D everything is just fine ... This probably has something to do with your GPU/driver.
