[Bug 949120] Re: kdm fails to start the X server
Something was terribly broken with your X server. In the xorg log one can see X detect your device as nvidia one and then tries to load appropriate drivers (proprietary > free > deprecated free > ultimate fallback). It then fails to load all drivers except the ulimate fallback, and that then has continuous input/output problems. So quite frankly I don't think the issue was in KDM but rather a broken setup.
