[Bug 95564] Re: Advanced bash autocompletion for packages does no longer work in feisty

2011-10-11 Thread James Cuzella
I'm getting a similar error:

sudo apt-get purge adobe-pgrep-status: /var/lib/dpkg/status:44726:
expected a colon

Here is a snippet of this file with the line numbers included:

[Bug 95564] Re: Advanced bash autocompletion for packages does no longer work in feisty

2007-04-07 Thread Andreas Gnau
I've just noticed that there's a similar issue with modules. I'm not
sure if this is the same problem (maybe these messages were supressed in
former times) or if this is another bug. Maybe someone can have a look
at it.

I typed modinfo nd and pressed tab (it correctly completes to
ndiswrapper, but displays the error-msgs below).

$ modinfo ndls: /lib/modules/2.6.20-14-generic/kernel/drivers/connector: Not a
directory
ls: /lib/modules/2.6.20-14-generic/kernel/drivers/cpufreq: Not a directory

ls: /lib/modules/2.6.20-14-generic/kernel/drivers/edac: Not a directory
ls: /lib/modules/2.6.20-14-generic/kernel/drivers/firmware: Not a directory

As I have already said I can't confirm this. sudo 'cronttab' becomes
'sudo crontab' for me.
Have you tried testing if the problem I described in the initial bug
report occurs for you?

[Bug 95564] Re: Advanced bash autocompletion for packages does no longer work in feisty

2007-04-03 Thread PresuntoRJ
My bash on Feisty wont autocomplete any command after a sudo with TAB.

e.g: $ crontTAB will get me $ crontab
and now $ sudo crontTAB will only beep

The only .bashrc odd opotion I use, since Breeze, is shopt -s cdspell

Advanced autocompletion worked fine on Edgy.

'sudo cront'tab becomes 'sudo crontab' for me (without any error-msgs).
Could you please try to confirm the issue I described above?

Re: [Bug 95564] Re: Advanced bash autocompletion for packages does no longer work in feisty

2007-04-03 Thread PresuntoRJ
I have got no error messasges either. I simply got nothing but a beep for
time I press TAB, no matter what I am trying to sudo.

It is like sudo prevents the eminent autocomplete for commands.

I can start the command (without the sudo), let's say: $ vim
/etc/rc.local

Then, if I do want to be able to edit this, I need to press HOME and type
the sudo so I finally get: $ sudo vim /etc/rc.local

Starting with sudo I cannot TAB my way into autocompletion: $ sudo vTAB I
got a beep; $ sudo viTAB another beep; $ sudo vim /etTAB got me a $ sudo
vim /etc/, then a final $ sudo vim /etc/rc.lTAB got me the full command $
sudo vim /etc/rc.local

It seems as it wont prevent full path names of parameters or full path names
to commands.

Another good example: $ sudo /etTAB got to $ sudo /etc/ .. then $ sudo
/etc/inTAB and it asked me to choose beetwen inetd.conf; init.d/;
initramfs-tools/; or inputrc. If I keep righting to $ sudo
/etc/init.d/netTAB it wen all the way to $ sudo /etc/init.d/networking

:-/ sorry if it seems confusing, cause it really is.
