actually the upgrade did not complete (uname reported oneiric kernel), the desktop had so many errors is was not functional at all. i had to install gnome-desktop then unity. This crash has the same stack trace characteristics as bug #973740. However, the latter was already fixed in an earlier package version than the one in this report.
