2012-05-16 Thread Dàrent
I would like to know if somebody has found a solution to this or at
least if the problem is with gnome-panel or the compiz plugin. Disabling
the plugin is not possible to me since I really need it, I'm using it
to place some applications in place along a dual monitor after login.
Thanks people!

Compizconfig has an option to disable 'place window' and it works like a charm.

2012-05-08 Thread Filip Milivojevic
If it helps in any way, I came to the conclusion that the Place
windows plugin is called even for windows that are already on the
screen, and not only for windows that are new, and that it changes the
position and size of the windows, so that the remain on the screen and
not overlap the panels.

2012-05-06 Thread Stephen Brandwood
I can reproduce here also:
- Youtube fullscreen always has both top and bottom bars.
- Totem DVD fullscreen will initially have bars, but after 5-10 minutes the
bars will appear over the fullscreenness. Turning off/on fullscreen hides them
again for another 5-10 minutes (repeat until end of film).

Gnome Classic (no effects) seems absolutely fine, only the effectfull
version is affected.

[Bug 977438] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic panel displayed on full screen videos

2012-05-01 Thread Robin Garnett
Can confirm that for me it was caused by the clock on the top pager
updating while using the place compiz plugin, for now have removed the
clock (special+alt+rightclick remove from panel), that's stopped it
popping up. I think the problem is with place plugin though and there's
a bug report here https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/976032.

As for the turns-out-to-be-unrelated windows moving themselves
about/jumping to the top of the screen thing that I was having that was
caused by wobbly windows plugin which has a snap feature by default set
to shift changed to disabled to stop.

[Bug 977438] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic panel displayed on full screen videos

2012-04-30 Thread Bengt Nilsson
I use gnome-panel with 12.04LTS.

When using fullscreen Adobe Flash player I see the top menubar plus the
bottom starus bar, plus I get some strange pointer behaviour (cannot
reach the bottom part of the screen) when I use XBMC mediacenter.

However, all these problems went away when I logged in using Gnome
Classic (no effects) instead of Gnome Classic.

I am using ATI Radeom HD 4250 with the proprietary driver.

The behaviour is also affected by the Place windows ability of Compiz.
If you turn this feature off (by CCSM), the problem doesn't occur, but all new
windows are placed at 0,0 coordinates (I'm not using any other WM, besides
Compiz).

[Bug 977438] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic panel displayed on full screen videos

2012-04-23 Thread Niko Rajkovic
I have reproduced this problem with the Gnome Classic desktop

In fullscreen mode this occurs on the change of minute and seems to be
caused by the clock applet.

However, when viewing in windowed mode, any action on the desktop e.g.
clicking on the Application menu, passing the mouse over the window list
or clicking a button to take the screenshot will cause vlc to expand its
window vertically to fit the screen

I hope this is of some assistance.
