palimmo, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . When the cursor hovers over the overlay scroll bar the touch pad scrolling functions properly. It does not work in the middle of the page however. I am also affected by this bug. It seems that any window with the system scroll bars is affected. Other windows (e.g. Chrome, Adobe Reader, OpenOffice) are not affected. I can confirm what James says above. Versions up through ubuntu4 work fine, but the latest version (ubuntu5) produces the behavior described in the bug and the comments. Seems to have started with this patch -> 203_fix_coasting_speed.patch. It happens quite often and is fixed by logging off / on. I don't know which update caused it, but I noticed this last week too.
