Fix for me changing this in /etc/default/grub.conf - GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash quiet nomodeset" + GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash quiet acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor" and i get accelerated graphics. I tried the suggestions that worked for the original poster (psivaa) and they didn't work for me. So I think I have a different bug. Still hangs in suspend or hibernate. The screen goes black, but then there's high fan speed and no way to get out except manual power down. The suspend / resume ops are working fine after a software update on 11/05/2012. Not sure what was the fix though. The reboot comes with lit screen and the suspend/ resume does not hang now. @Colin, Workarounds given in 12 and 14 have the same results as that was for 4. i.e. Suspend/ resume work OK but with the glitches given in 6 & 8. There was no oops message on the console after the grub workaround. Also it was possible to resume after the suspend. Can you edit /etc/default/grub and change: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash no_console_suspend" then run sudo update-grub and reboot. Then change to a virtual console (e.g. press Ctrl-Alt-F1) and login. Then run: sudo pm-suspend and see an oops message appears on the console. If so, can you take a photo of it and attach it to the bug report.
