[Bug 990493] Re: After suspend+resume, date in menu bar is incorrect

2014-04-15 Thread dronus
Ok, I've read the rules and so even it seems strange, it is correct for
this bug not to be fixed on 12.04. Question is what a security flaw or
regression is in this case, as people's action based on wrong date
information may be harmful. On the other side, it is no threat to the
security of the computer system itself.

So we keep going with wrong dates for another year :-)

[Bug 990493] Re: After suspend+resume, date in menu bar is incorrect

2014-04-14 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
dronus, as I explained previously, this bug was fixed for the version of
Ubuntu that was in development at the time, which is standard procedure.
I'm sorry I confused you by suggesting that you nominate it for an
update to 12.04, when you did not have permissions to do that. I've just
nominated it on your behalf, but I would not be surprised if that
nomination is declined, because there is a high bar for updates to a
stable release. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#When

[Bug 990493] Re: After suspend+resume, date in menu bar is incorrect

2014-04-10 Thread dronus
Please set the state apropriate. The bug is NOT fixed as filed. Is was
fixed for a later version of Ubuntu, but was not filed against that
originally. It was filed against 12.04, where it still persists.

So either you try to backport the fix to 12.04, or leave it broken for
ages, setting this bug to won't fix.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS welcomes 2014 with a wrong date!

Among the maxims on Lord Naoshige's wall there was this one: Matters of
great concern should be treated lightly. Master lttei commented,
Matters of small concern should be treated seriously.

[Bug 990493] Re: After suspend+resume, date in menu bar is incorrect

2013-10-18 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
The bug was fixed for the then-in-development version of Ubuntu, 13.10.
If you think the bug is important enough (and the fix is low-risk
enough) to backport to Ubuntu 12.04, choose Nominate to series then
Precise.

2013-10-18 Thread dronus
Where I can find 'nominate to series'? Also, this bug was filed for
12.04 and is tagged 'precise' so setting it to fixed is definitely
misleading I think. If this is the usual practice, how to report a bug
to not causing it to be fixed in an other version than stated?

For Ubuntu 12.04 it is not fixed.

0.3.94-0ubuntu2 is still current version, my machine started 2 1/2 days
ago and it shows me the date of yesterday now.

Bug was initially filed for Ubuntu 12.04, and is still there.

Ah, forgot to say: I am using gnome-panel by now, eg. gnome classic

[Bug 990493] Re: After suspend+resume, date in menu bar is incorrect

2013-10-14 Thread Charles Kerr
This was fixed sometime back Julyish a side-effect of the rewrite that
occurred when converting the backend to a GMenu for 13.10.

Confirmed to work properly in 13.10.0+13.10.20131011-0ubuntu1. Tested
with both seconds showing and not showing in the indicator's time
string.
