[Bug 993964] Re: network-manager-applet: missing network connections in menu.
Anomaly is still rpesent after various updates. ** Tags added: running-unity ** Description changed: The following problem happened after upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04: network manager applet in Unity-2D does not show properly network connections, but indeed networking is working properly. It happens only after a boot, not during session logout/login, the first 4 screenshot were taken as follows: - login (1): notice connection information window, the wired connection is working properly. - disabled (2)/enabled (3) networking brings contents of network manager applet in the correct state/appearance (4). Also via 'System Settings - Hardware - Network' I tried to toggle 'Airplane mode', which I don't know why it is always switched on (maybe cause wireless adapter is hardware switched off), wich led to nothing. Other workaround methods are: - unplugging and plugging back Ethernet cable, or plugging it after login. - enabling/disabling wireless adapter. [Bug 993964] Re: network-manager-applet: missing network connections in menu.
Performed a fresh install yesterday using 12.04 mini.iso and the problem still presents. I found similar behavior of bug 986920 after today kernel update (3.2.0-25): surprisingly the network manager applet seemed to work, so I've rebooted several times trying actual and previous kernel release (3.2.0-24). For the first couple of reboots network manager applet was correctly populated with .25 and empty with .24, afterwards, it was empty also on .25. I've rebooted several times now, still empty in .25. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993964 Title: network-manager-applet: missing network connections in menu. [Bug 993964] Re: network-manager-applet: missing network connections in menu.
Hi Michele. Forgive me for my bluntness here but bug 986920 refers only to wireless connections not showing up, while the behaviour I'm experiencing affects whole network-manager-applet. As stated before and shown in the first screenshot: all connections aren't visible. I need to plug ethernet cable in after login (and the icon nm applet on screen being visible) to render aviable/shown wired connections, VPN, and so on, If I boot with ethernet cable plugged in, or I plug it in too early, nm shows up as in the first screenshot. Also enabling and disabling wireless via killswitch or disabling/enabling networking does the trick. In other words, forcing nm to change state reverts its visualization as it should be. Indeed you posed a legitimate doubt.
