[Bug 994217] Re: All applications launch in the top-left corner

2012-05-08 Thread Chauncellor
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 994217] Re: All applications launch in the top-left corner

2012-05-08 Thread Fred
To encounter the problem, I logged in and opened any app, and noticed it opens
in top-left corner.
This also occurs when logging in as guest.

The behavior I expected was that it remember the last position or open
somewhere where my attention is likely to be (i.e. somewhere more in the
center).

Behavior encountered was that when I open something, anything, it opens
the top-left corner.

This is a wishlist item, then.

For the record, you can change the window placement in the compiz
settings manager's 'put window' plugin.

Thanks for the report!

** Summary changed:

- All applications launch in the top-left corner
+ New windows should be placed in the same place as when they were closed -
Positions should be remembered.
