Aloha, As far as I know is the partitioner that's being used the gparted partitioner, but the devs can tell us more about it. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] [Bug 697694] Re: Lubuntu installation crashes
I have this problem too, installer failed while the partitioner was going (thankfully no data was lost -- looks like gparted finished the job). I was asked to post some files, but I had no idea how to do it. Computer is a P3, 733 MHz, 512 MB ram. If the installer can't safely perform the functions it includes, maybe those functions should be disabled on future releases. A gparted live cd can be used to partition, and it's probably a better tool anyway. 2011/5/19 trevor <697...@bugs.launchpad.net> > ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) > Status: Incomplete => Confirmed > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are a member of Lubuntu, > which is a bug assignee. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697694 > > Title: > Lubuntu installation crashes > > Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu: > Confirmed > > Bug description: > Binary package hint: ubiquity > > I tried installing Lubuntu 10.10 but the installation crashed and it > said to report a bug with two files attached: partman, and syslog. The thing is that > I can only attach one file, how do I attach the other. Try the alternate install CD (NOT mini.iso). It's a text based installer which is quite self explanatory. Personally, I would recommend sorting out partitions prior to attempting the installation & using a wired connection during the installation. This worked for me on a laptop with 256mb RAM whereas Ubiquity constantly crashed. I appreciate this doesn't help with attaching files, it may be a viable option for installation though.
