*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 182130 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182130 Thank you Pavel, that seems to have fixed the connection problem, but Evolution and Sylpheed are still failing to pick up any mail (thought it may just mean that Thunderbird on the Windows computer is wiping it off the servers, contrary to its instructions, though I don't think so, it all seems to be there when I access through the pop access) . Evolution crashed and called for a report (which it hasn't been doing) and something called compiz also promptly decided to crash and report to the bug-tracking system, and the printer is also still processing or failing to function. Look for the "hal" package - the installed version should differ from the available one. Or try apt-get, of course. When I installed Hardy (Alpha 3), it installed with version 2 of HAL and the system update was not able to run due to some calculation problem. I fixed this with a "manual" update with the software updater. But on the other hand, the "eth0 problem" is the same with me - as a workaround, I inserted an rc- script after the network rc- script. Are you also being informed on booting up that HAL cannot be activated? And have you found that the "Hibernate" option has disappeared from the close down panel?
