Thanks for this workaround: I can now connect to my WEP AP.

FYI: I installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 which only has the faulty software, so you
can not choose the older kernel anymore to connect to a WEP AO. Quite a
serious Ubuntu bug IMHO.

Hi Michael.

Just mentioning I had the same issues connecting to a WEP netgear.


I resolved the issue by installing the linux-backports module which
includes a newer version of the wireless driver.


sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic
